Mustang GT500KR
The body was cleaned up and the panel lines scribed a little deeper and the two piece hood was cemented together and the resulting joints were filled before priming.
 Tamiya Brilliant Orange decanted and airbrushed…  |

I painted the one piece chassis a mix of brown, tan and fluorescent orange. Then I dry brushed silver to lessen the brown tones. Contrast was added by hand brushing some of the molded in details as was a light wash to accent the engraved parts.

This is the under hood area, painted the body color from the top after I pre-shaded it from the bottom then brush painted the details.

I assembled the front suspension much as the instructions indicated, but for the rear suspension I dry fitted these parts and only cemented them to each other so I could remove them from the chassis (used as a jig) for later installation. Using the chassis like that also helped make it easy to set up the front struts without measuring anything.

I didn’t like the look of the chrome wheels for this one and I thought the Brass Monkey coloring for the wheels would work with the body color. I mixed an approximation from Rustoleum Bronze and Tamiya Fluorescent Orange.

Did you test fit for ride height? If you do not modify the suspension, the mustang will look like a SUV...

I'm aware of the height issue, but I'm building this as a dry run for a future build. I figured I'd just see how it goes out-of-the-box and adjust the next one accordingly. I've already found a couple other issues that will benefit the next one.
Most of the interior is painted and assembled…   |

I painted the black trim on the body parts. Masked and sprayed the hood louvers and rocker panels, the rest of the black was done by freehand brushing with Tamiya acrylic. Still need to wax it, but I’ll wait until I get the decals on it.
