99 Caravan tranny differences
I have a transmission interchange question. I have a 99 Caravan SE w/3.3L eng. PD 9/98. Not sure of the model transmission but it is a 4 speed. Last week it locked up so, I pulled it out and ordered a replacement from the junkyard. During the conversation or ordering, they did ask for the PD of the car and I gave it to them.
After the replacement arrived and I compared transmissions, I had to swap one sensor but when it came to the PRD21 connector, mine had the round pins and the replacement had the spade pins. In reviewing the paperwork for the replacement the PD for the car it came out of was a 99 with a PD of 9/28/98 (at least that is how they had it listed). When I ran the vin# for the car they pulled it out of, carfax listed it as a 99 Plymouth Voyager.
How is it possible the replacement with the same PD have a different connector? I know that some of the yards online list their transmission with the round pins vs. spade pins. Is that supposed to be the difference between the Production dates? Can anyone shine a little light on this for me. I just got off the phone with the parts yards earlier and yelled at them for bringing me the wrong transmission yet he acted like I am the one who should be swapping out the connectors (which a trained transmission guy should be doing). I just want to reinstall it not modify the tranny.
