Stoplight Replacement 97 PA 155Kmi
Anyone ever replace the stoplight switch? The part store gave me one switch, but when I look up there, under the dash, I see two switches coming in contact with the break pedal. How do I get these plastic switches off? They look like they're held in place by a plastic part that I'm sure will break if I do something wrong. What a mess I've gotten myself into?
I tried using the "chat" on this site, but I guess I'm not doing something right. Wendy |

One is for the brake lamps, the other is for the cruise control. I believe the switch should twist/turn to unlock, then slide out.

Thank you for the information. I'd rather change both parts, if I'm going up in there. Do you know the exact part name or number for the "cruise control brake pedal switch"? It will be one more thing I can change out to try to get my Cruise working again. The guy at the auto parts store treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. He kept saying there is only one switch up by the brake pedal. I said, okay, then walked out. Too many part stores to go to, I'm not going to argue with a Mr. Know It All.
![]() I do appreciate the help from this Forum. Wendy |

Re: Stoplight Replacement 97 PA 155Kmi
My mistake, the upper switch is actually an input for the TCC and ABS systems, part #12450039. The lower switch is the stop lamp switch part#12450036. Twist counter clockwise and pull out. To install, push in until the plunger is depressed, then twist clockwise to lock.

Re: Stoplight Replacement 97 PA 155Kmi
Got both switches out, but couldn't find a replacement for the TCC/ABS switch, GM PN #12450039. What is the TCC? I know that ABS is the braking system. Guess I'll have to shop at GM for the part.
I was thinking of going to a junk yard for a cruise control lever, does anyone know if the lever is the same in all gm cars? New ones cost over $250, and I just can't put that kind of $ into this old boat. Thank you, Wendy |

Re: Stoplight Replacement 97 PA 155Kmi
TCC is Torque Coverter Clutch.
I would try and find a cruise lever from a car like yours. |
