Ayrton's McLaren WIP

Hi all, I'm new here and really like all the artworks!
I'm currently working on an airbrush painting of Senna's McLaren and thought it would be nice to show it here as it develops. I've already been working on it for quite some time, but unfortunately just started taking pictures of the progress.
More to come in a week or two

Re: Ayrton's McLaren WIP

Not too much progress unfortunately, but I thought ill share it anyways.
Did some detailing on the left (right on the picture rear wheel), and added some basic colors for the helmet. Helmet still needs visor done and shading.

Re: Ayrton's McLaren WIP

Another small update... Started on the visor and the windshield. Those still need some work. Also detailed the last wheel.

Re: Ayrton's McLaren WIP

this board isn't near as active as it used to be so comments a few and far between.

The piece looks fine so far but it is still pretty undone, or what appears to be I should say.

If you could post some of your finished work we might be better able to judge where you are at. This could be nearly done and we would have no clue what you are going for.

I can see that you spend a lot of time on details and you can regain focus after taking time off from a piece. Both of those are good things.

I don't really have much to offer except some encouragement and maybe a little kick in the pants. Make it happen man.

Do this.

looking forward to more meat...looks good

Re: Ayrton's McLaren WIP

Thanx for the comment Lemorris.
Unfortunately I can't post any completed works yet, since this is the first car I do (hopefully not the last )
There is still a lot of work to do in this piece. Im not sure in what order ill proceed next, but i think im gonna do the lettering 1st, then some more detailing on the visor. After that, the whole car need to be shaded. Finally i will add the colors to the reflection.
I dont have too much time to work on it, so progress will be rather slow.

Btw, i think your sketches and drawings are great!!!

That is sad and maybe I can help to change that a little bit.

About the McLaren: I'm looking forward seeing how it develops, I'm always intersted in airbrush but I can't really comment it since I never worked with it.

There's just one little thing I noticed: the right front wheel (on the right of the pic) appears larger than the other one which apparently causes the effect of asymmetric. I think it's because the right wheels shadow isn't crossed by a white reflection, so there's quite a large black area... this area seems a little massive and unproportioned in the composition, but that might be only my opinion.

Re: Ayrton's McLaren WIP

Thanks for the comment, knightvision. You're right about the front wheel. I noticed it when it was too late to change. I might try to fix it a bit with some shading / lighting effects, or make the left wheel a bit larger, but im not sure yet cause it may do more harm than good. I'm sort of new at this hobby, so it will be a trial and error process.
More updates will come next week because my holiday starts then

Re: Ayrton's McLaren WIP

I'm not too familiar with the airbrush technic..but this is different from the digital work. Shading. colors and reflection are well done, I really like the details on the wheels however, very nice touch on that...Post some more pictures of the process...

Re: Ayrton's McLaren WIP

Three years later finally done!

There's a lot of room for improvement left. Considering the speed (well, lack thereoff) at which I do this, that is probably gonna take some time

Re: Ayrton's McLaren WIP

Fantastic. Love the high contrast and reflections. Tire treads are awesome. This is great quality stuff!
