Turbo in camry
Has anybody put a turbo in a camry? Is this even possible? What would have to do to a stock engine?

Re: Turbo in camry
Mostly, it's not worth it. More cost effective to simply buy a V6 if you have a 5S-FE.

That is a nice Post Brian! ![]() Quote:
Turboing the V6 would be a BIG job. Would love to see it done, but unless you can find someone that makes a manifold, there is going to be a lot of custom work going on. You need to think about single or twin turbo as well, and even finding space for it will be interesting.

Re: Turbo in camry
It seems more difficult to turbo a transverse engine than a longitudinal one. I think there's less space under the hood.

Generally the larger the car though, the more room there is. A 90s Civic for example as heaps of space. Cars like the Camry and the Accord, that come with 4cyl and V6 options are a bit different. The 4cly has too much space around it, while the V6 doesn't have enough. The Camry is a special problem because the engine is leaned back in the engine bay, with the aft cylinder bank head facing the firewall.

Re: Turbo in camry
looking at my v6 engine bay f the camry, i dont see anywhere it could fit, not without really hacking up the engine and the bay itself. but if money isnt an issue, and lets be honest i am sure that it is, you can do whatever you want. bring it to a mod shop in your area, tell them what you want and give them lots of money to do it.
