transmission wows

I have a 2000 venture and on my way home from work one night I was just getting on the interstate and picking up speed just fine when all of a sudden I had no power to the wheels.None of the gears will engage(except park). There was never a problem before this..Its just like someone flipped an off swicth.Any ideas as to what might be the problem? The fluid is where it should be and looks good...

Re: transmission wows

Was there any noise when it went? Maybe the front pump died.

Re: transmission wows

Do you hear any noise when you shift from park to Reverse to fwd gears? Does the transmission fluid look/ smell ok- looking for little bits of metal flakes?

Re: transmission wows

there is no noise what so ever and the fluid looks perfect. Its strange I know.Im so used to the old stile transmissions now with all these sensors and stuff who knows what it could be.Hate to spend tons of money on another trans just to find out later it was a switch or sensor ect.It was really like someone hit an off switch.

Re: transmission wows

Wonder if you have any fluid pressure, might disconnect one of the cooler lines and have someone start it real quickly and stop it to see if any fluid is being pumped..... Dont run it long/ dry....

Re: transmission wows

Yeah, I have some transmission issues also (no 3rd gear- runs like a 3spd with a high geared Drive gear.)

Re: transmission wows

But at least you can drive yours. These trans are known for problems. They should give everyone a service manual when they buy a car these days!!!!

Re: transmission wows

Any resolve to this?? I have the exact same problem..

Fluid is full and pretty clean, linkage is fine as it moves on the trans and inside with no issues, no noises, no warning, Just from working great to nothing.. Shift out of park and nothing... Any advice on what to check??
