DAF Tractor

This is my first 1 / 24 scale truck ever. Did this before the Renault Magnum. This is a DAF 380ati Space cab, an old kit. The kit went together quite well except for some minor issues with battery box, which did not fit well. I also had problems with the painting that caused a rough surface on the passenger side. But besides that, it was a fun kit to build. Hope you all like it. I'm still adding little details every now and then.

Re: DAF Tractor

I quite like it, well done!

Something tells me that you had built military models before starting with the trucks, am I correct?

Yes. That is correct. I know it shows right through, doesn't it? I hate the new look on any vehicle. I guess, military models has spoiled me.

Re: DAF Tractor

Yeah, the military influence is there. This is where the realism comes in. The mini-dio and fine details really gives the model a context. Your builds remind me of the super detailed big rigs
i would see in Fine Scale Modeler and Scale Auto. The weathering and details make a difference.
You've made a great intro onto this forum!

Thanks. glad to hear this. I am striving to better myself and hopefully end up in one of those magazines you've mentioned. Only time will tell.

Re: DAF Tractor

Another great build. The details are fantastic. Did you make the Michelin man yourself?

Re: DAF Tractor

Fantastic weathering, great looking truck. On your next one, I'd suggest you paint the cab with glossy paint, and then weather it, will look more realistic.

Re: DAF Tractor

Beautiful weathering. On the tank did you paint it and then just scrape off the paint. I like how that came out and am interested on how you accomplished it.

Thanks. The chipping was super simple. Paint black, then wait for an hour or so, then paint silver. Wait about 20- 30min, then take a sharp hobby knife and scrap away carefully until you get the effect you' looking for. Then I used pigments to blend in as well as get a weathered dull look of the entire fuel tank.
