1984 Mercedes Benz
I just recently got my drivers license and took on the task of trying to get my parents old 1984 Mercedes Benz 380 SE up and running. There are some problems though and i have no idea what to do, so far all i have done is change the battery. When i turn on the car it starts up great, but if i leave it on for about 5 min shite smoke starts coming out of the exhaust and it really stinks. Another big problem is the fact that when i drive the car, the car turns off while driving sometimes. I asked around and some people were telling me it could be the fuel pump or the wiring. Could anyone help me im getting depressed here....

no it is not diesel,,and i was told that the problem why the car turns off while driving is due to a dirty gas filter..could that be it?

Uh, does it also overheat when it begins smoking? could be a blown head gasket or cracked block if it's smoking white, is it allot of smoke - it doesn't smell like burning oil does it?
