FM Antenna Wire came off Rear Windshield

A wire, I am guessing it is the connection wire for my FM radio, seeing as the FM signal is very poor, disconnected from off the inside of my rear windshield.

It looks like it was held on with some adhesive. What can I use to re-attach the wire? Something that adheres, and conducts a signal/current at the same time?

I didn't notice for the longest time because I never use my FM radio, I have XM - but I would like to not have a dangling wire in my car.

Thanks for your help!

Hi nfoss,

There's a car antenna repair kit for sale at most autoparts stores which is very useful when your antenna is missing some parts, I don't know if it will work as an adhesive though. Maybe you can take a look at it and see if the package says anything about it. I've never used it but I've read about it many times.

Oscar.

Yep, seems I remember a kit made by permatex that is designed for use to reinstall the connectors for rear window defoggers and antennas.

Re: FM Antenna Wire came off Rear Windshield

Ok - it's obviously held on by some compound, and I just thought it was a silicone adhesive, or something that conducts an FM signal.

I will look into a repair kit, but I was hoping I could buy a container of whatever the manufacturer used, and just re-apply it.

Any ideas what exactly is holding it on in the first place?

Not a clue whats holding it on.

I'm pretty sure thats what the permetex stuff is, a little bottle of adhesive that conducts.

You could stop by an auto glass shop and ask them when they use. They might even give you a "sample".
