The tubes & hose joints question
So I want to detail-up my 1/24 models. I just got some reference pictures of Sauber-Mercedes C9 racing car. I was always amazed by the tubes and (metal) colourful hose joints inside engine bay in a model car.
There are some metal hose joint/Tube part around, such as T2M (T2M-3015) and hobby design (HD07-0066 or HD07-0067), in different sizes. So for a 1/24 car, what size should I use? Tubes? Also, how to do the detailing with so much tubes and connectors? Just learn it from a reference picture? from scratch? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! Leon |

Hobby design, Top Studio, Model Factory Hiro (MFH), all make good stuff. T2M is expensive but good. The best way is to do it yourself and learn. Learn what works and what doesn't. I hate to say that but it's true. I've done that very thing over the past 4 years and have gone from an average modeler to one that has won Best of Show at multiple contests recently. Just have fun! |

Re: The tubes & hose joints question
One annoying thing is that it isn't always easy to find out the actual sizes of those fiddly little bastards.
Forgot who it is but one of the resin makers only lists them as small, medium, and large instead of a more useful mm measurement across the diameter as we get on styrene rods.

Re: The tubes & hose joints question
Top Studio lists them in large medium and small, but with some numbers:
TD23047 1.6mm Resin Hose Joints (Large) TD23048 1.2mm Resin Hose Joints (Medium) TD23049 0.8mm Resin Hose Joints (Small) Thanks anyway, I will have to try by myself and make some research! Is it fun! |

Re: The tubes & hose joints question
what you have to remember is how big that little part is in real life and they would scale down (or up if you go the other way...)
in 1/24: 0.8mm=19.2mm 1.2mm=28.8mm 1.6mm=38.4mm this doesn't just apply to hose joint parts. when using styrene rods to make other parts/lines in a car engine bay, think of how big it is to help you choose the appropriate size rod diameter or sheet thickness.
