Drivers seat won't tilt back?

On my 02 Durango the lever that you lift on the left side of the drivers seat to tilt the seat back has just stopped working. Does this mean I have to remove the seat to fix it or is there an easy fix/adjustment I can make? It feels like the lever is still attached to a cable or something. Thanks for any advice.
