2000 sierra 4wd and interior lights

Just purchased a 2000 gmc sierra 1500 and when i test drove it the 4wd seemed to work... today i got stuck in the driveway and imagine that, i go to hit the hi 4wd button and nothing happens.. the light does not change, nothing happens when hitting any of the buttons. I shut the truck off for about an hour and tried again and it worked, so i turned off the 4 wheel and tried pushing the button again and same thing.. nothing happens.. just sits it 2wd.. any ideas.. just bought it less then a week ago..ha

also.. the interior dome lights don't work when the door opens or when i try with the dimmer, and the door lights near the bottom don't come on neither. i checked the dome override button, that didn't do anything, check the fuse panel in the truck and the courtesy fuse under the hood, everything seemed fine. The map lights up front work fine with i turn them on... any help with either problem would be much appreciated.. thanks

also.. is the message center supposed to display anything when you first turn the ignition on?? mine does not light up at all...???

Re: 2000 sierra 4wd and interior lights

The t-case actuators/solenoids/motors on the push-button auto-4WD tend to have communication problems and failures.

Usually there are redundant fuses for certain circuits. Pull all fuses underhood and in the cab that pertain to interior lighting or a interior accessories.

The Message Center is usually supposed to have the Battery symbol when you turn it to RUN (not starting the engine) meaning you are running on a battery power. After starting, it will stay on for a second or so and go off after that.

If nothing is coming up at all, then check the CIGAR fuse. That circuit links many others together, which could be your problem you are describing earlier.
