1978 Bob Glidden Pro Stock Fairmont

A took a little rest from some of my circuit race cars some time ago, wanted to do this car for some time now to acompany the first version I did of Glidden car. the 1981 blue car with square opening in the back wheels, I like the vintage Pro Stocks so why not the undefeted 1978 championship car.....and my favorite of the two Glidden ones.

Started with a 1965 Pontiac GTO body as a base for the construction of the body and the front end of a AMT Roadrunner. Again my body is not perfect by any means but it will do for me!!

Another modeler is doing a much better and accurate body of the Fairmont and plan to offer it in resin kit form....I plan to buy two of those to!!

Hope you like it!

Fred

Now the fine tunning sanding and adding the details like door/trunk lines, door handles, windows trim construction begins, then to the paint job.

You are doing a great job! If I can offer some advice, I think the styling of your hood is too pronounced. I don't have a picture of Glidden's race car in front of me, but the Fairmont/Futura hood had much less of a rise in the middle, and the center rib is not as high. Don't take this the wrong way as I could never accomplish what you have done, it's just an observation.

You are correct in your observation about the central rib molding in the hood, it has to be lower. I still have to do the engine hood scoop, which for this particular car have a different profile than the latter Fairmont of 1981, will fix the molding when this piece is fitted to the hood.

Thanks all the fellow members for their kind and positive views about this project, greatly appreciated.
