Arrow 1993 honda civic coupe TURBO {street racer}

************ COMPLETED ***************

hello everyone, I built a revell honda civic kit a while back and i was dissappointed that the kit didnt offer a factory stock look . The sideskirts were molded on and the bodykit bumpers are no where close to stock looking . So i build the kit right out the box . Only thing I added to the kit was some stickers I was experimenting with . I have some things instored for this kit as you will all see . I started tearing it down earlier this week ...
here are the shots of how it sat when i finished the car a long time ago...... use these to compare the difference at the end....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I started sanding down the sideskirts .... i cut the sideskirts off to the door line, then sanded the rest, still needs work . For stock sideskirts im using the revell acura rsx sideskirts , they are short by a lil bit but nothing evergreen cant fix . The rear bumper is salvagable, I just sanded down the bodykit groove it had , trimmed the bottom of the bumper a bit , and gave it the "rear cut bumper" look..... this will be great for when i add suspension goodies (asr plate , lower control arms , lower tie bar etc.)

no front bumper.... im going turbo on this car and a huge front mount will look alot better than a front bumper....

took engine out .....

Arrow Re: revell 1993 honda civic , the dericed version** going H2B TURBO

-THE ENGINE ... H22A TURBO WITH B SERIES TRANSMISSION (H2B SWAP)
I will talk about the motor build briefly here so you can understand the pictures . I scrap built the block of the H22 from o.30 styrene sheet , i used the b series block for measurements , i just made the block a little higher and just a smidge wider , the H22 is bigger than a b series . For the valve cover i just measured the top of the block, cut 3 of the same pieces from the styrene , basic shape rectangle . After glue set , i added one small rectangle tube shape styrene for spark plug cover . i then sanded, cut , filed, the valve cover to look like the 1:1 scale .... random pieces i used from the revell b series were : the timing cover ; alternator ; pulley ; oil pan ; transmission ; distributor ; vtec soleniod ; throttle body ;----- intake manifold was scratch build... turbo manifold i used some solder i had laying around , turbo was from revell toyota supra kit , i had a small turbo laying around ,idk from what kit, i used that as a compressor for the turbo ....... intercooler was made from a 57 chevy cameo radiator .... thats it for the swap for now.....

- here i have the basic shape of the block , and the basic shape of the valve cover. The vlave cover I will shape up to tru form later.

-put it next to a b series to compare

-some more work done on the block..

-I shaped up the valve cover hope you guys can see it

- my reference picture of the h22 is in the background

-here i added the distributor , vtec soleniod, and oil cap.... dizzy and solenoid i took off the b series valve cover and placed them as it would be on the 1:1 scale.....

-intake manifold** i was going for a racing manifold look, i'll try to google it to get the 1:1 scale info.... made of 0.30 styrene sheet and straight pieces froma the sprue tree of any model kit, throttle body i cut off a b series intake manifold i had laying around

-- block primered then painted....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
** test fitted h22 swap in the coupe....looking realy good perfect fit....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- tested my luck on making a turbo manifold from solder....

-orginally was going to use this turbo but it was to big...

-painted turbo manifold, turbo, compressor, added the "dohc vtec" on valve cover.....

-here it is next to the engine i took out the coupe,i painted some things on it tooo i was bored, and some other b series motors....

-- intercooler
- I started the intercooler off with a radiator from the 57 chevy cameo pick up model

- i trimmed it from the top down to size i needed, then made the tanks from 0.30 styrene sheet

- i primered only the tanks, here is a test fit ..... see where im going with this...

Talking Re: revell 1993 honda civic , the dericed version** going H2B TURBO

- did some work on scratch building the radiator support.....
-here i did some minor cutting to see what im working with

-i drew out the shape i needed from 0.30 styrene sheet

-reference picture of 1:1 car

-did first test fit, needed to shave down lil here , lil there

-added the lower support detail using a rectangular styrene strip and the ends were 0.30 styrene sheet

- here it is on the car, glued and plastic welded.... also added some holes like on 1:1 car.... note i cut the front lower chassis down to size to look more real, and a lil of the inner wheel well.....

Talking Re: revell 1993 honda civic , the dericed version** going H2B TURBO

did some interior work today , im leaving the door and sidepanels stock also rear deck stock..... i removed the rear seats, and "removed" the carpet, i just made the floor looked "stripped" like.......

-here i removed the rear seats and i started plotting on my next move..

-drew a ruff sketch on a piece of paper of what im ruffly looking for..

-i layed the first pieces on...

-added the hump for the fuel pump cover and made the fuel pump cover...

-another shot and angle....

-fuel pump cover its getting wrapped in carbon fiber.....

-did some sanding

-put some lines on the floor with a marker

-then, instead of adding on to the floor to make the "metal" floor, i took my dremel with a cut off wheel and started scribing the floor...

- i took a file to finish up the lines on the floor...... also added the cross bar on the floor plan for the seats to bolt up too, and also added the raised metal to bolt up the rear of the front seats....

-another angle....

-lol had a scrap piece of photoetch and made a vin plate on the dashboard..

-also vin plated the tranny .....see if you can see it.......(it's greenish)

-started working on the PASSWORDJDM carbon fiber airbag delete..... i cut the center of the air bag out leaving a trim.....

-added the carbon fiber, i used solva set to wrap it up....

-here is the back piece of the air bag......0.30 styrene with the carbon fiber decal....

-here it is finished.... will add clear soon....

........................... thats all i did for the interior so far....................................

Exclamation Re: revell 1993 honda civic , the dericed version** going H2B TURBO

---also worked on the radiator support some more, trying to making it more realistic since im leaving the model with no front bumper......

-i trimmed some more plastic of the chassis (black part)

-here you can see how much open space there is compared to box stock... i will try to scratch build a traction bar for this model..

-another angle

-added more styrene to the "frame" part of the rad suppport ....

-some inner framing of the rad support...

-did another engine mock up so i can line up the rear "t-bracket" for rear motor mount and make brackets for tranny mount

-another angle... yes i still have to trim down the tanny brackets....

here are my reference pictures to making the front rad support and frame work.......

- did some minor bodywork today......

*here is a pic of the rad support which i did a little more structure to it, and light sanding

* here is what i had sanding up to today, i grinded down most of the "bodykit" sideskirt, and trimmed it all up to the door line....

*closer angle shot

*rear bumper which i cut an opening in the center, local street dragster in new jersey do this...it gives more of an eyeful of the rear suspension setup...also suppose to eliminate wind drag at top speed...... sanded down the "sidevent" bumper had flat.....

* i then took a sharp pointed file, and scribed the rear bumper for more detail as you can hopefully see in the pic...

* when i sanded the lower body panel where the "bodykit" sideskirt was i needed to reinforce it with a scrap piece of 0.30 styrene in back of it. As i was sanding it ,the plastic got real thin, but problem solved.........

*otherside...

*I used the revell acura rsx sideskirts for this model . They were a lil short but ill fix that with some styrene ... I tapped everything together , and plastic welded the sideskirts on. they fit on very great, minus the shortness.

* here is a good shot of the rear bumper after some scribing and light sanding.....

*otherside...

Hey, not sure if you fixed the valve cover yet, but there are a couple image editing software programs out there that can allow you to print your own decals. You can go on the internet and find out the exact image that you are looking for and resize it to scale...

Looks really good! I love all the detail you're putting in. This is going to be intense.
