No, it's just a different way of saying the same thing. I'd guess it's rather British in nature. There are many works like that:

Dampers = Shocks/Struts
Aquaplane = Hydroplane
Petrol = Gasoline
Extractors = Headers
Backlight = Rear window
Boot = Trunk
Bonnet = Hood
Honda = Sucks (I guess that one's universal) :right:

I like how in europe a 4-door is a saloon, and a 2-door with a trunk is a sedan. Kinda tricky....

Thats not universal, its only in America where you get all the crappy models. But thats Hondas fault, blame it on the ignorance of the Market.
