88 s10 blazer auto, 4x4, Stalled while driving

I was driving back from school and my blazer just shut right down.
I couldn't restart it, so i had to get it towed. Well my friend told me
that it might be the fuel pump or the wires came loose. Anyone
have an idea of what it might be. And how can i check to find out
what the problem is. It never stalled out before that. thanks
