Nope. I bet it's just a scam. It'll add 0.15 hp at most. Higher octane fuel doesn't give you more bang...in fact the higher the octane, the less explosive it is. Racers run high octane gas so that it doesn't prematurely detonate and crap up the cylinders.

He's entirely correct! You need Type R stickers in order to get that kind of H.P.!

Gas adds 60hp to my engine - without it it won't run! - 0hp!

as for the gas it is utter BS- the only purpose of higher octane fuels is to take care of your engine on higher compression cars.

its called "cool blue" from 76, 100 octane, and on a test car that puts down 214.6 w/ 91 octane there was a 7.1 horsepower gain, the test car was import tuners "project Aerio". 76 claims that on identical stock buick grand nationals they recorded a .5 second quiker 1/4 mile

Higher RON rating will let you have more compression and/or boost without pinging and shattering pistons and the like. But the key is haveing your computer adjusted or chipped to make the most of it.

maybe if you advance the timing...which you can with higher octane maybe that will give you some HP

Well, NX does have that fuel booster that boosts power like 5% or sumthin with one bottle and 10-20% when you use nitrous, not sure if it works, just thought i'd add my .02?(alright now where the hell is the cent sign)

Raising the octaine levels can add power to your car. Just ask any one who has ever run air plane fuel in thier car. Deffanate h.p. boost.

Yes, but it's not the gas that does it. The higher octane fuel simply increases the resistance of the gasoline to knock (knocking occurs when the gasoline is compressed too highly and detonates prematurely from the compression instead of by the spark plug...this is harmful to the engine). On vehicles equipped with a knock sensor, it detects that a higher grade gasoline is being used, and slightly advances the timing until a knock is detected, then slightly retards it. This results in a more efficient firing stroke for increased performance. However, the timing can only be adjusted a certain amount, that's why performance increases are so minimal. Example, that Aerio that made 214.6 whp had a 7.1 whp boost, which is only around 3%. A stock 2003 Civic Si peaks at around 143 whp, so a 3% increase means that the "Cool blue" gas would only boost it by around 4 hp to 147. In order to get the advertised 15 extra horsepower, your car would already need to be making 500 whp, at which point an extra 15 hp isn't going to make much of a difference. For the price you pay, it's not really worth it, and just a scam to get octane un-educated street racers to put more money in their pockets.

To sum it up, higher octane gasoline DOES NOT improve performance, it simply accomodates advanced timing by the knock sensor (if your car has one) because of its resistance to detonate by compression.
