Best cheap(er) coupe?

What do you guys think would be a reliable, under $8000 coupe?
I'm 20, and have wanted a two-door since before I could drive. I'm pretty good with engine work on American vehicles and insurance prices aren't really a big deal because they already kill me because of a big speeding ticket.
Interior accommodations , good looks, power, and reliability are things to take in consideration.

So if anyone suggests a mid-90's Monte Carlo, I swear to god I'll kill them

Also, keep in mind that I am 6'4" and that the car will be parked 6 months of the year because of extreme snowfall where I live.

Have you made a decision on what you want yet? I'm guessing since MI is still buried in snow that you're still shopping.

At your age, the insurance costs for a coupe will be significantly more expensive than a sedan. Although, my dad is 6'4" and fit with room to spare in a Mini Cooper. You can TOTALLY find one in the price range you mentioned - just stay away from the S model until you hit 25 and insurance premiums drop.

'90's Lincoln Mk VIII, if you can find a good one. Fast, comfortable, fast, roomy, fast, mostly reliable, fast, lots of features like sunroof, great seats etc. And fast.

Yes, some people gripe about the airbag suspension, but it really is very reliable and functions very well. The bags last 100k miles, but do cost $1000 in parts to change all 4.

If that's a bit much, consider a '90's V8 Thunderbird.

Buy the best Honda Accord V6 Coupe for your budget. Their looks may not be your thing, but they have good power and are very reliable. And with proper maintenance, they'll last over 200,000 miles. Good luck.

If you are looking for a stylish coupe in that price range, and you are not afraid of european cars, well then I would greatly recommend the Peugeot 406 coupe v6, it's beautiful to look at and a pleasure to drive. It kinda reminds me of a Ferrari and it was styled by Pininfarina (not quite sure about the spelling).
