99.5 manual tranny problems
Having problems (for the last few days) with my 99.5 2.0L gas 5-speed manual transmission. When I move the shifter into the reverse position, the car moves forward (like it's in first gear). First gear appears to put the car into third, second into 4th. I cannot get the car to go into reverse and I appear to have lost 1st & 2nd gears altogether. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? Thanks.

Re: 99.5 manual tranny problems
Hopefully it's just shifter cable adjustment, cables do go bad also. Luckily it doesn't sound like the all-to-common dying transaxle.

I'm having problems with this too. What was the resolution to your problem?

Re: 99.5 manual tranny problems
I took my car into the shop...with similar problems. It was just a plastic coupler on the shift linkage...100.00 later and I'm back on the road.
