Air Bag - SRS

today i was driving down my road and i noticed out of the corner of my eye the SRS light blinking in my E30. if you keep driving it ends up just staying lit up. i know next to nothing about my SRS system, and the car manual just says that if it is doing that then it is malfunctioning (thanks bmw ) i looked in my bentley manual and it says that since it is a pretty sophisticated complex system that requires special skills, they would not go into it in that manual.

does anyone have any information on what this means for my srs system? since i know nothing about this system i am somewhat scared of it since it does come out with considerable force. . .

any help would be appreciated, thanks

Lightbulb Airbag Light

My airbag light came on one day, and just stayed lit. After calling the dealer, they said the SRS would not activate accidently...and it would probably not activate at all...even during an accident. As I was due for service in about a month, I waited until then.

It turned out that a sensor in the passenger seat belt had failed and this was replaced under warranty (this was a 2000 328i).

You are correct in that there are obviously many parts to the SRS system and it would probably be best to have a dealer look at it.

Best of luck!
