Question 98 Gmc Sonoma Intermittent Starting Issue

I Have A Intermittent Starting Problem. 1998 Gmc Sonama 130,000 Miles. This Has Been Ongoing This Summer. Vehicle Starts And Stalls When This Happens. Leave The Vehicle And Come Back , Then The Vehicle Most Proably Will Start. The Longest Wait Was Several Days.
Again, The Vehicle Runs Good Till I Turn Off And Come Back To It After A Time. Doesn,t Happen So One Can Plan On It Not Working. Fuel Pump Nose Is Audible.
My Experience From the 60's And 70's When This Would Happen To A Vehicle Was A Defectice In Line Resistor In The Coil Circuit. The Vehicle Would Run From The Starter Selonoid 12 Volt Feed To The Coil But Not Thru The normal Run on the Ignition Switch.
I Have A Local Shop Set Up To Help But I'm Waiting For The Engine To Not Start When I Shut Down In Their Lot. But It Starts Ok When I'm There.

Sounds like your EGR valve is sticking. When mine was sticking it would run fine and when I shut it off it was hard to start, or would back fire till it died. I would try cleaning that before you run through your electrical system.

Thanks for your advise, I'll check the EGR VALVE.
BUT, THERE HAS BEEN NO ROUGH IDLE, OR OTHER ENGINE MISFIRES, The engine just seems to start and then kills.

I took the vehicle to a local shop , he put 80$ part in and gave up, he hauled 98 Sonama to local GMC dealer and I got billed 700 dollars for a antithief device, a new program, a ignition switch and tumbler with key. Oh well, the vehicle has started OK since!
