1972 chevy c-10 tick in engine under valve cover

I own a 1972 chevy c 10 pickup , i rebuilt the sb 350 and ended up with a ticking sound under the valve cover on the #6 cyclinder exhaust valve, keep in mind that this is a complete rebuild. at first i thought it was coming from the exhuast manifold , and since replaced them with headers. I have replaced the lifter pushrod and rocker arm assly at different times, but still have the ticking sound only on that valve.I can push down on that rocker arm while running and the sound will go away can anybody figure this out ,I AM KINDA THINKING THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CAM LOBE COULD I BE RIGHT

Have you tried going slightly tighter on that rocker adjustment?

If re-adjusting the rocker makes the sound "go away", at least for a little while (more than 30 or 40 seconds), it very well could be a cam going flat.

If re-adjusting only makes the sound go away for an instant, and it returns, it's more than likely the valve guide. This era of 350s was NOTORIOUS for eating guides (especially exhaust), and the ticking is a typical symptom.

If you "complete rebuild" didn't include new guides, it wasn't as "complete" as it should have been. EVERY 350 (or other small blocks with that era cylinder head) gets new guides here.

have taken the heads off ,and taking them back to the shop for them to redo
