Emission inspection tips for passing

2005 Grand Caravan 77,000 miles. Any tips for passing emission control test. I have found a few such as using premium gas for the test, adding injector fluid and using throttle body cleaner, and running the car fast and furious for twenty minutes prior to the test. Also making sure the tester is using the correct specs and making sure the tester applies the gas and brakes evenly during the test. Anything else?

with a real scanner, if all systems pass and all monitors have run and no codes are active or pending, it passes!!!!

Re: Emission inspection tips for passing

Honestly a 2005 engine with even lackluster maintenance at 77K miles should have no problem passing even if the guy doing the test has 3 left feet. My 02 passed with flying colors and I forgot to change the black oil or put fresh gas in as it was sitting for 6-7 months before being put on the road.

Premium gas will also accomplish nothing. These engines are designed for 87 octane and any higher is just wasted and actually can cause a slight unnoticeable power loss since higher octane requires more timing to burn properly and the computer will not adjust for it.

As for FI cleaner, that crap is snake oil, it does nothing but waste your money. Same for driving the car like hell before. If the guy puts you car straight on the machine it might make a very slight difference, but most of the time the car cools down beforehand anyways.
