I need to know the location of the keyless entry module (receiver) is on a 1998 chevy fullsize pickup. I would like to add one to my truck and need to know if the wiring is there. I have power everything so hopefully the capabilities are there. Will any module work (plug in) if I have the correct wires as long as I have the matching fob? I just need to get started in the right direction.

Re: 1998 Pick up Keyless entry module
Figured out where its supposed to go. Went by a dealer and got a print out of the location. It goes somewhere behind the instrument cluster. I am going to see whats back there and reply again. They also gave me the part number of the receiver and matching transmitter, can post them if anyone needs them.

Re: 1998 Pick up Keyless entry module
Ok, here is where I found the location. Its just above the gas pedel, there is a black bracket held in place by 2- 15mm bolts and 1- 7mm screw. I also found out that the wiring is already there because it replaces another module called the instrument panel dimmer module. The module it replaces is Part #15150325. The receiver part# is 16254970 and the matching transmiter is part# 16245102. I am still doing research, so if anybody has anything helpful, let me know. I would like to get the replacement part from salvage yard, so does anyone know if receiver from a blazer or anything else has the same part#?

Re: 1998 Pick up Keyless entry module
I know this is several yrs later, but how did you handle the difference with the connectors? The dimmer module is only a 5 pin connector and the connector for the receiver is 20 pin.
We just got our 97 Silverado and low n behold no keyless entry, but have power windows/locks. Any help on the wiring would be appreciated. Nancy |
