01 T&C Power Door Freeze in Winter

Hello Readers,

I have 2001 Town and Country LX with Power door on RHS and manual door on LHS (Driver side). During winter times when temp. goes below freezing automatic power door stops working. i.e. it does not open or close when button on console or remote is pressed. It can be opened/closed only manually (which is hard considering it's a power door).

Talked to dealer and he said this happens in all T&C during winter.

Has anyone experienced this and know if this is a known issue with T&C. And if anyone knows what could be wrong and how to fix it, I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks for your advise and help.

Ash

I have an 02 Grand Caravan w/dual power sliding doors and a power lift hatch, both sliders work well in all temps (it was just -14) but we have problems with the rear hatch in cool temps (anything below 40). I've been told that they should work in all temps.

I have an '02 T/C - both power sliders work with the buttons on the overhead console and the remote fobs, but do not work with when hitting the buttons on the door post by the front seats. Both quit at the same time - I live in Fargo and with cold temps, I feel it is the temperature affecting operation, but why do the doors work with the other buttons?

Re: 01 T&C Power Door Freeze in Winter

I just figured out my problem - while sitting the van letting it warm up this morning, I was playing around with the trip computer on the overhead console and noticed a button by the door buttons that said ON/OFF - I never noticed this one before and flipped it a couple of times - then thought to try the inside power slide buttons and wah-la, they worked!

I guess either myself or my wife pushed this once and did not realize it.

Re: 01 T&C Power Door Freeze in Winter

I used to own a 1998 Chevy Venture with power sliding doors that worked when they wanted too, which wasn't very often towards the end. I was so happy when I found a cherry 2005 Grand Caravan with manual sliding side doors and manual rear lift gate. When my mechanic inspected the van and told me it was a great buy I liked what he said about the manual doors. It can't break if it doesn't have it.
