2002 Dodge Intrepid - my heat stopped working this morning!!!!!

Before I start, I should say that my heat/air conditioning only works on the highest setting, this happened last year.

But I was able to deal with it without getting repairs, but today I was driving to work and my heat stopped blowing air and my air bag light went on at the same time.

Anyone have a similar problem with their car, can I get some input??

Check the blower motor resistor block for continuity, if no continuity replace resistor, located lower right side of HVAC housing in the passenger compartment,

Factory Service Manual Blower Motor Resistor Block testing procedure:

1- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2- Unplug the wire harness connector from the blower motor resistor.
3- Check for continuity betweeneach of the blower motor switch input terminals of the resistor and the resistor output terminal. In each case there should be continuity. IIIf OK, repair the wire harness circits between the blower motor switch and the blower motor as required. Of not OK, replace the faulty b;ower motor resistor.

Go to this link, it shows a picture of the resister:

Hope this helps

Re: 2002 Dodge Intrepid - my heat stopped working this morning!!!!!

There are little motors under the air mixing box (tucked at the back by the end of the carpet under the radio cluster) that operate the dampers to bring in the hot /cold air.
Each motor is enclosed in a plastic case, and this case expands to the point the motor does not work. (design flaw) I think the unit you need to replace is closest to the driver side. A little hard to get at but with some patience it can be removed and repaired, or replaced.
Hope this works for you.
