Next Project....1941 Willys

No rest from modeling !!!....heres my next project that i will get started in the next few days

A big thankyou to my mate DVSNCYNIKL who managed to get me the kit from the states and post it to me last week...got it today, so the timing was perfect. Cheers...i owe you one !!!

I have to say that for a Revell kit it is pretty bloody good. The mold lines and general finish of the kit is 100 times better then any other Revell kit that i have made/seen.

Still not sure on the build yet, looks like it will need a little lowering.
Not sure on paint colours either....have about 1 million ideas going through my mind at the moment.
I'll post a few pics up in the morning when the light is better of the kit.

Started on the kit today with the sanding of the body, not much to sand on it as its very nicely molded. Only a couple of lines around the trunk and front.
Cutting most bits of the trees to check fitting and sanding the odd bit to get rid of mold lines.

Everything will be then be primmed afer assembly of engine halfs, seats that are molded in two bits and other bits that can be put together first.

The tyres are not the yuk bloody Revell ones you usually get that take forever to sand all the crap of them. They are a nice soft rubber and well detailed.

Now i know most of you are thinking..... "what a piece of crap car to do....PMan has finally lost the plot" ....but this is the type of car you either love or hate....you all have your own veiws of it.
Coming from a HotRod back ground it was always a dream to own somethig like this, so this is about as close as i will get to having one

Pretty damn cool!

Just make sure you give it a better paint job than the one on the box!

Finally got to start the kit today.
Spent a while sanding molding lines off bits. Have started to put together a few bits for ease of assembly.
Hopefully start the painting of bits tomorrow.

Now for the "DONT DO THIS AT HOME" bit.

The rims are two piece and need to be glued together. Now the rims are to wide for the tyres on the back and need to be sanded down a bit. You can't sand to much though as the rims are not very thick.
So i sanded them down as much as i could, but they still didn't look right.
I then decided to glue the outside rim to the tyre, and have the inner rim sticking out on the inside were you wont be able to see it.
The first attempt failed...so out come the SUPERGLUE
Put the glue on both pieces, some on the tyre and held it in place with my thumb untill it dried.

BUT.... the glue run through the rim onto my thumb and glued the rim to my thumb
30minutes later and missing some skin to the thumb, we parted company after soaking it in some cleaning stuff from my work.

I felt a right plonker walking around the house with this wheel stuck to my thumb trying to get it off.
Just as well i was home by myself.

i know whats going on....

This forum is acting like a medium, through which the skill of the master modellers is passing to us lesser builders, and soon we will be producing cars of spectacular realism, while the former pros begin to create pieces of what can only be described as crap with fogged up glass sections and superglue fingerprints, visible brush strokes and torn decals, ultra heavy orange peel and so much dust in the paint job that it looks like a carpet.

Or maybe not.
