99.5 Jetta alarm problem
I know there have some previous threads about this but not for our year. 99.5 Jetta has an alarm problem with it going off sometimes for apparently no reason.
Some background: daughter lost her flip-key and got a valet key about 4 months ago. Dealership said it did NOT have to be programmed. All of a sudden alarm will go off when she opens door or starts car... but not always. Looked for the alarm control module but could not find it and think that it is in the comfort control module? Because there is no remote, can't open trunk to shut off alarm. I guess the question is: is the alarm module in the CCM and is there anything to look for before trying to replace whole unit? If we buy a replacement flip key or remote ($199)... would that help? Driving us (me) nuts. |

Re: 99.5 Jetta alarm problem
hey I have the same problem! I think what is going on is inside of one of your doors...
ill explain whats happening to mine maybe it can help you! Inside each of my jettas doors is this "control module" that determines weather or not the door is open or closed. (The driver side module is the one broken in my car.) so what happens is sometimes my alarm will still be active when i open my door in the morning (because my module is broken it doesnt even recognize i just opened my door) and as soon as i put my key in the ignititon the alarm blares. ANother problem is because this module is broken the car self locks itself. this is probably the problem you are having since you just have a valet key. See, before i get in my car i have to push the unlock button on my remote to make sure the stupid alarm doesnt go off. Always before i get in because the doors lock by themselves which is probably what yours is doing. But with a valet key this is most likely not avoidable.(because you have to push the unlock button to avoid blaring alarm once module breaks) so when you put the valet key in the door to unlock it, sure it unlocks the door; but doesnt disable the alarm like it is suppose to, because the module is broken. The dealer was telling you the truth you dont have to program the key, but he probably didnt know your module is broken. I am guessing this is your problem. solutions! You can get a new remote at dealer and just simply push unlock button on remote before you put your key in the ignition. or.... you can fix module in the door, there are write ups all over the internet for this. They are known to go in these cars all the time. I am living with the annoyance because i am not spending the money or time taking my door apart. I feel this should be a recall on jettas because people can break into our cars easier, but whatever. Hope this helped
