Help. What is this?

I found this in my drive last night. I think it may have came off a friends car. It certainly did not come off my F250. My girlfriend drives a 1999 Chevy Tracker.

Picture can be found here.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help. What is this?

It looks like an exhaust system mount to me.

It is possible that a muffler shop replaced an exhaust system on a car, and disconnected this mount. They then substituted a different or universal mount, and simply left this one hanging. Rust and vibration allowed it to eventually fall off.

It might also be a transmission mount. The bracket in the right definitely looks as if its been cut off, perhaps with a torch.... but not a fresh cut...... but more as if it was done some time ago.

Re: Help. What is this?

Is your girlfriend's Tracker red? It almost looks like it could be a body mount or a dampener or some sort. The photo on the right appears to have red paint on it. That would seem like a pretty heavy duty mount for a dampener, so I'm leaning more towards body mount. What's the bottom side of the disc look like?
