Ummm... back in the old days before fuel injenction, fuel was measured into the engine by carburettors

Hondas have come in single and twin carb varients between the SBC (1st Gen) and EG (5th Gen). Mugen brought out a Quad-Keihin carb setup for the first gen and Jackson brought out a twin-carb, quad barrel Webber setup. You can Carburettor a fuel injected motor, but god knows why you'd do it

You can actually sometimes make more power with carbs than with FI. But your fuel economy takes a shit.

Well...

I dropped the '93 Tegra engine into my 1990 4G4D. It's a ZC sohc Dual Carb, pushes 112HP (without a Cat). In South Africa, most of the civics we have had in the past came carbed, similar to Australia, Oceania and Japan. Out here we have developed carb mods to quite an artform. My previous lump was a D15B3 (1500 single carb, our version of the DX, it pushed 92 HP).

Carbs are actually completely valid means of fuel regulation for any car. Bizi Ezerioha is credited as having the FASTEST ALL MOTOR drag honda at NHRA. His car is a unibody CRX with a D15B dual carb engine. He assrapes the DOHC's and Vtecs regularly...

Check it out...

Maybe, but I'd take a quad throttle bodied manifold with fuel injection over a carb any day.

So there's an article in Import Tuner that interviews Bisi, and in it, it describes him running his carb'd D15, yet on the IDRC website it says he has an F22 (accord motor). Odd.

darkimportgrey:

He used to run a d15b7, 1.5L SOHC ALL MOTOR CRX, and that engine won him the titles of "worlds fastest SOHC" "first SOHC in the 10s" "and smallest displacement engine in the 10s"

He replaced the d15b7 with an accord F22 to stay true to this SOHC roots but to become more competitive with the guys running bigger NA motors.

ah ok thanks for the clearing up. i think that's so cool that he's gettin that fast with a SOHC.

and it's weird to think of the motor in my mom's old 90 accord as being used in a drag car... haha
