transmission question
i have 96 ford contour, need a transmission, was wandering if anyone knew if i could put another tranny for a different car, would like to know all my options

I just did this and now have a no start issue.. but the best i can tell you is find a u pull it place and or junk yard and see if you can get one from them. get your vin and call ford and give them the vin on the transmission that you find for it.. ask them if it is a match for your vin and that should resolve the issue of will it fit or not.. helped me figure out if i was wasting time or not with taking one out for ours..

it depends on if its pre98 or not, if its a 95-97, any trans from those years will work, if its 98-00 you'd need one of those years. the duratec and zetec do not share the same bell housing, so v6 or 4 cylinder will matter as well
