CPS Replacement

So i have determined that the CPS is bad. I have a 94 Jeep GC Ltd with the 5.2L V8. I bought the Haynes manual and removed the 4 plug wires on the right side, removed the heat shield, and removed the EGR tube but i still dont see the sensor?? Where exactly is it? I was told its mounted to the block directly behind the first right cylinder? If so how are you suppose to get your hands back there?? Any help would be great!! thanks

Re: CPS Replacement

you have to feel around the Right (passengerside) exhaust mainfold (you may not be able to get you hands backthere)- you may have to take in the passengerside Exhaust manifold off - this would make this job alot easier anywyas.

Same problem with a 94 5.2 and CPS. Did you ever find and get the cps replaced? Could you recommend how you found it. I think that I know by "feel" the entire back of my engine. Did you remove the exhaust manifold?

Thanks ever so much for your reply.

Hey, yes i did have it replaced. I had to drop the exhaust and lower the transmission. It was a huge pain but it did end up being the problem. I tried going at it from the top but even with the manifold off i couldnt get my hand back there you need to have a 2yr old hand to get back there!! Hope this helps

Re: CPS Replacement

I also have to replace my CPS on my 94 5.2 V8 and it appears that you have to at least remove the trans crossmember and lower the trans/engine combo to get to it. Not looking forward to this job.
