Accord 89: No key click response

Just changed the alternator of the accord 89, when putting back the air filter there were two short sparks and the engine fan started on its own. When went to restart the car there was no response to 'key turn' from the engine or the dash board. Head lights do come on meaning battery is working.

Wonder what the problem can be? Some fuse, or some wire burned out or ignition switch? Can't figure anything out.

Thanks to all the helpful responses.

Check all fuses. You definitely shorted one of the circuits.

Good luck,

Sam
