95 3.4 engine swap or part out and sell

ok well iv looked on here in the engine and transmission and the discussion treads found some useful and useless information for my questions but ok

so i have a 1995 4.4 v6 camaro iv had for a few years now so dont really want to get rid of it plus i like the style. it has a good body and interior but just recently im beliving my head gasket or some other gasket my be bad off. i was fidling around wondering why it was overheatin, just last summer i replaced radiator, thermo, hoses, water pump, serp belt stuff like that all work made it run fine.

well just recently i found out there is oil and im beliving tranny fluid in my air intake before the trottle body (prob after with the way it looks) i havent driven it since it overheated and i found all this, and really am not going to. well needles to say my engine has got to be screwed it hasnt completly blowen or anything like that yet.

so i was wondering if i should part the engine out get some cash and put new engine in or if some one may actually know if i should try to just fix it. i want to swap it out considering it has like 177 plus thousand on it. but i need to know what engine would be best to put in it with out to much hassel? like what could be the biggest i could go and try not to have to change out like susspention and all that. would a Ls1 be to big and bulky in this 3.4? basically what can i put right into it and change as little as possible, mounts radiator small stuff like that and not have to like completly overhaul the thing. im not looking for power or torque or stuff like that until i got money to invest into that stuff just want tohave it run to be a daily driver again. or should i just sell the thing and try to get a running one with the little cash i can generate with this one?

sorry bout the langth but if you actually have any suggestions please post em any help would be wonderful thanks to all

At 177k miles, and not wanting to get too seriously into anything, I'd just tear it down and rebuild it. That will put some pep back in it and solve your current issue, most liekly with the intake manifold gasket.

Before making that decision, I'd do a compression check on the motor.

Re: 95 3.4 engine swap or part out and sell

ya cause i was wanting to keep its nice little car ill worry bout upgrading it later down the road

ill prolly try to just rebuild it from the block up since i gotta take all that stuff off anyways. there shouldnt be like no real probs with that anyways as long as i do everything right lol

and i had to replace my valve and intatake gaskets and my IAC earlier this year cause i had a real bad vacuum leak and it was idleing crazy. but would an bad intake manifold gasket really put oil and tranny fluid in my air intake? and im thinking my vavles have to be flooded with oil a lil bit since its went throu my throttle body so im most likely going to have to change those out also. do you or anyone for that matter think it could be a cracked block since i got both fluids in there? or just my gasket? and i dont have like white smoke coming out my pipes in like most cases of a blown gasket.

and thanks for the reply any other thoughts would be great also thanks

Re: 95 3.4 engine swap or part out and sell

A improperly seated, sealed, or cracked intake gasket could suck oil out of a galley. There's also a breather connecting off one of the valve covers to the throttle body if memory serves?

What does no tmake sense is the alledged trans fluid. The ONLY way trans fluid could get taken in is if the radiator is internally cracked, leaking the trans fluid into the coolant. ?

Re: 95 3.4 engine swap or part out and sell

well the thing bout the tranny fluid thats not tranny fluid i was just seeing things and wouldnt even see how that could happen without antifreeze there also

anyways yes there is a breather hose/pipe from my passenger vavels. that could be the cause of the oil in the intaake? cause its full of it too. so should i just put one those mini screen filter things( not sure what they are called look almost like a air filter for like an el camino, circular) on the end of that and were it connects to my intake to help stop that? and could that hapen cause my oil is thin and watery and makes it easier to pull from the gully cause the intake is sucking in hell of air? cause i actually havent given it an oil/filter change in like 5-6 months a couple thousand miles 3 maybe 4, not good i know

also my oil press has been real low itll start at like 30psi, startin off below norm, and after driving for like 10-15 min, maybe, itll be just bout touching the red. could that be a sign of a bad oil pump? i hear a very faint ticking prolly 7 out of 10 times i drive it mainly when i first start it then it slowly lightens up, or i just get used to it. and i hear the oil pump ticks when its bad but iv actually never herd a bad one so im not sure?? and could that help cause it to over heat?

and if not i notice a coolant leak also, its on the outlet of the block with a big metal screw like thing and connects to a hose going down to my heater core, right there at that connection at that screw is the leak, and it has these two hoses that run out the side of it by that screw not sure what they are but they basically just run into eachother with like a 1/4 in divder in between eachother off the intake manifold. but do you or anyone happen to know what those two hoses are and what they do, if your able to get what i mean? and what that big screw is called cause i dont know i know were it goes and comes from thou and that its leaking lol

thanks again sorry bout the length thou wrote a freaking book here lol
