97 Grand Cherokee HIGH IDLE!
I have a 1997 JGC with 180,000 miles. It has a high idle, 1000 RPM after start-up and 1700-2000 RPM after warmed up. Recently I have changed the TPS, IAC motor, Air Filter, Oil, Plugs, Wires, Cap, and Rotor. I have also cleaned the throttle body. Nothing helped. At stoplights, I put it in neutral so I don't have to firmly hold the brakes. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Re: 97 Grand Cherokee HIGH IDLE!
This might be totally unrelated but I had a Dodge truck do that and the speed sensor was the culprit.
It was in the rear differential. If your speedometer doesn't work that might be a clue. On this one it calibrates the idle air control after receiving the speed signal. |

Re: 97 Grand Cherokee HIGH IDLE!
Because of age + mileage suspect bad gaskets, rubber, or plastic.
Do a Google ''Youtube smoke vacuum test'' |
