97 Ranger 4.0 fuel guage stuck on full

My fuel guage is now stuck on full after the last fill up. It didn't work at all a few years back, so I had the fuel pump in the tank replaced and that fixed it. It was very expensive, about $600. Is there any other reson it would be stuck on full? Is there a fuse to reset it?

Drive it for a few miles to get the fuel level down then tap on the gas tank with a hammer. It will unstick the float sending unit.

Good idea, I never though of that. I once had a Beamer that stuck on E after sitting in the garage for a week. I added a bottle of good -Total fuel system cleaner- to the gas, it freed up the float after about 100-150 miles.

Well I'm through rambling for a month or so. (:P

There may also be a short in the sending unit wire. Tape up any frayed spots in the wires with electrical tape and check again. Also try unplugging the sending unit
