2005 mustang rear brakes
Yesterday i was changing a friend's rear brake pads on a 2005 mustang.
i had problems compressing the caliper. It doesn't use the typical caliper compressor to make room for the new pads. Instead, it uses a caliper that needs to be turned clockwise. I had a hard time finding a part/tool to compress the caliper. I went to NAPA and bought a "disc brake piston tool" Part #3163 which is a metal cube that fits onto a ratchet. None of the sides of the cube fit the caliper design, because they were not wide enough. I know there are kits out there but they cost upwards $70.00. Are there any cheaper alternatives to use on this '05 mustang instead of paying the dealer $100? |

Re: 2005 mustang rear brakes
lmfao i had the same issue with my car.. and i ended up opening the bleeder and using a pair of channel locks..lol bad idea...although it worked i had to bleed them afterwords. i too bought thr cube universal adapter for the ratchet.. i looked @ it and found 1 side that had 4 nubs on it and i took and cut 2 off to make it fit and work...ive used it a few times and have no problems using it that way. and only cost me less than 10 bucks.
