After reviewing the data, we found that Cyberdefender is the best option when it comes to Panda or Cyberdefender, AVG, Norton or others. The user interface is easy, and the 24/7 support with the paid version is an option you won't get anywhere else.

We chose this program after reviewing several other free softwares like AVG and Norton, both of which were on my system and allowed me to get infected.

When looking at paid versions of anti-virus software - Cyberdefender is the choice for us.

Anti virus programs are waste of system resources, just stay safe by avoiding the gaming, gambling and porn sites and running a scan occasionally.

I do personally not agree with this and here is the reason: yes normally having an up to date system and staying off bad sites is enough. But even the most trustworthy site can be hit with a successful attack by lets say an SQL injection and have it deliver silently malware simply by visiting it.

and lets not forget that the most dangerous malware is the professionally written silent type siting on your system and keylogging your financial date for example

IMO its good to have all 3 levels of defense: a good first line with a safe browser (eg Firefox with noscript) good middle with a safe patched os and a last line of defense with an antivirus.

A modern system, even budget, will not even feel a background AV anymore unless we talk about a netbook. A good dual core cpu is less than 100 usd and gigs of memory are nothing now (my 8gb of ram cost me 89USD over 6 moths ago).

As far as AVs go my current free choice is AVIRA - absolutely top notch detection.

As far as the non free there are a few good choices ESET, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Norton 2009(yes the new norton is actually good and light weight - the horror )etc..

Webroot antiVirus with Spyware.

Better yet, switch to LINUX. NO problems with that software and it's free!

CYBERDEFENDER! It's easy and IF you were to come across any problems - they have 24/7 assistance which is incredibly helpful.

AVG is good & free but a little bit of a resource hog.

Right now, I'm using COMODO, freeware a-v and firewall, 24h support, many updates etc...

I agree with Mike. The technical assistance with Cyberdefender is amazing! They will even help you out with tech problems not related to the software. And they don't try to make you feel stupid... which is nice.

Blazee and Todd have it right. Avira is hands down the best I've used, and it's free.
