The wiring connector is in the trunk. L.H. rear trim panel. It is along the body so the trim or carpet material will have to be pulled away. There are three holes on the body for retaining the changer. This install is for a Ford changer. If it is not Ford I am sure you can get a bracket to attach it to the body.

Irish30 not to ask the same question twice but,I have a 2003 ses with in dash CD. I do have the 1-6 disc button on my head. Am I correct in assuming that its changer ready? And that the wiring/connectors are all there just waiting for a changer?

If the radio head does not have a CD slot then yes. The wiring connector should be in the trunk. The wiring looms are installed at factory, but some models don't recieve the options. Ford will put the same wiring in all of them if they don't have the option from factory.

Well My radio head has a Cd player. I looked in the trunk behind the carpet shell on the drivers side and found a plug/connector. I think the wire colors are orange and black. CD Changer connector? If not, could it be for an optional power antenna?

The CD changer connector should have 12 wires going to it. Yes one of them is OG/BK. Not sure what connector you found. What is the model year for your Taurus. It is found on the sticker on the drivers door. The connectors were changed from 1999 model year to 2000 model. If it was built in 09/99 it will be considered a 2000, but will have some 1999 model year wiring.

As I said above its a 2003. theres a white plug attached to the left inner fender wall with one og/blk wire coming out of it. I found another one hanging from the rear deck between the 2 speakers (bunch of wires)that goes into a free floating relay thats just plastic clipped to the deck

Re: installing cd changer in 2000 ford taurus

I have a 2003 taurus se, and I want to install a cd changer too, since I know it didn't come with one, but has the controls on the head unit. What plugs need to be plugged into the cd changer exactly, and would they work with a cd changer that has an eleven prong plug?

Re: installing cd changer in 2000 ford taurus

Hi all, I have a 2000 SE with the faceplate for a 6 cd changer. I looked in the trunk and found the radio tuner. Does the changer get plugged into that and do I need a cable of sorts?

Re: installing cd changer in 2000 ford taurus

All you have to do is buy the wiring harness and it is plug and play.

You unplug the connectors that are in the RCU and then plug the harness in and plug the connectors that were unplugged into the new harness.

You can go to any online audio dealer and buy the cd changer and the harness.

I just changed out my 10 cd changer because the harness actually shorted out from moisture that came up through the drain plug I put in a dual aux input that allowed me to direct wire my XM radio and add an ipod.

You still need the stereo face that has the cd controls to do the XM/Ipod deal.

Much better than a cd changer in my opinion.

Mike

installing cd changer in 2002 ford taurus

I have a 2002 ford taurus set to have a disc changer in it, however the changer did not come with the car. So I bought a Clarion 6 disc changer on ebay. The seller said it came out of a 99 expedition but would fit in any taurus over 2000. I found a unconected cord behind the carpet in my trunk but it doesn't fit the changer. Is there another cord I need or one that could possibly connect the two? I obviously have never done this kind of thing before...

Re: installing cd changer in 2000 ford taurus

I'm looking to install an auxillary cable in my ford and as the cd changed has long since been disconnected in my trunk, would it be fairly easy to splice an aux port into those cable and just run it on the cd setting?
