Land Rover 109" LWB Camel Trophy

Hello,

This is a Land Rover 109'' lwb from Italeri (can anyone please tell me is it series 2 or 3?). I got lucky to find this kit because I always wanted to have a camel trophy theme among my completed models. The model was sprayed with tamiya camel yellow and I made the decals myself, but the rest of them is oob.

Let me know what you think and thanks for looking.

Regards

This is a Series 3 Land Rover. You can tell by the head lights being on the wings (they were in the radiator recess on previous models) while still having the recessed grill. Later models, i.e. stage 1 and defender had the radiator grill flush with the front of the wings.
See here for more info: http://www.lrfaq.org/FAQ.2.Ident.LR.html

Hope this helps! Where did you get this model? I have a Series 3 109" which I would like to do up as a Camel Trophey.

Re: Land Rover 109" LWB Camel Trophy

Hello Krishna,

I've been waiting for ages that somebody would build a Defender or RangeRover in Camel yellow with all the additional bits and pieces. Definitely on my to-do-list also.

Great job, only some minor flaws. First: it is WAY to clean. Would definitely look more convincing when dirty (mud, dust, etc.). And: Italeri did a mistake when printing the decals: the number plates represent a British version, but British license plates are white up front and yellow on the rear. The way they printed the decals it's the wrong way 'round. You could fit the white square one on the front, but where would you put the long yellow one? Only places I could think of are on the bumper or over the rear door, on the roof.

Cheers
Sebastian
