AC Compressor Bypass on 96 mercury sable
Here is a followup to a previous thread where I mentioned my AC compressor dying, and taking out my serpentine belt.
There is an AC bypass that is made available for my 96 mercury sable. I've been saving money to make sure I have enough to pay for the job when it is is done. I expect to pay about 80 dollars for the parts, but Im wondering what kind of labor is involved. From working with appliances, I know the refrigerant needs to be removed professionally, but after that is it just a case of removing the compressor, installing the bypass pulley (looks like three screws) then routing the new belt? What would your estimate be to get this done? |

Depending on what motor they give 2 1/2 hours to 4 hours to r&r the compressor.
