2011 Limited Turbo
Anyone have any experience with the turbo engine on the Sonata? I am looking at getting the 2011 Limited. I like the extra umph the turbo gives, but I'm concerned about maintenance down the road. I've owned one car with turbo and it was a nightmare, so I'm a little cautious about it.
Would the turbo require that I fill the car with premium gas only? |

Re: 2011 Limited Turbo
I don't have any turbo engine experience but doesn't it have a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty on it? If the turbo is included in that I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
The turbo engine in the Sonata runs on regular gas. |

Re: 2011 Limited Turbo
I just saw your post. I have 1000 mi on my new Limited Turbo; I found if I want to drive fast in corners I need to turn off the electronic stability control. If I want to use all the performance, I use mid-grade gas. On regular the car doesn't shift at high RPM; it just keeps bouncing back off the redline like a tell-tale on a race car; I found a post (Iam not sure which forum) where the owner thought it was some kind of turbocharger issue. anyway the slight increase in octane transformed the car; if you never use all the power it runs fine on regular.
This is an awesome, fun car to drive: I just got 33.8 mpg between Orange County and San Diego at 75 mph. This was the readout. I didn't calculate it so it could be inaccurate.
