2001 Pontiac Grand Am

I went outside and tried starting my car this morning which is 2001 Pontiac Grand Am 4door 4cylinder, it would turn over but would not crank. I took out battery and took it to Auto Zone where they tested it and charged it for me. I put battery back in and the car acted as if it wanted to start but died automatically. My friend is here and someone told me to tap on starter and let her try and crank it at the same time. I tapped it lol like i think it should be done but really I have no clue and nothing happened. Please help Thanks

u might need a tune up...spark plug and wires
