Changing/flushing gear oil - camry '02

Hey, just need some advice on changing/flushing the manual tranny oil on the '02 4cyl camry.
so im sure the drain plug is at the bottom of the container in the back of the engine on the drivers side.
Can anyone advise on some steps to flush and refill the oil.

Check the Toyota factory service manual for your generation 5 Camry that is stickied at the top of this forum's home page. The procedure and the right lubricant should be in the manual. Here's the link to all the manuals:

Shouldn't be too hard, but word to the wise, make sure you get the filler plug off 1st. I did the differential fluid in my 4 cyl and drained it and had a bear of a time getting the filler plug out!!

Also the gear oil is thick, set the bottle in the sun to warm it up some. I just used a hose and stuck a funnel in it. But it was sloooowww going on the V6 manual. It took about 4 qts. The 4cyl auto takes 1.5 of tranny fluid and that job went sorta fast.

Buy a cheap pump to pump the oil from the bottle into the tranny. They sell them so that they screw onto the top of gear oil bottles.

im juzf confused as to where the actual tranny oil fill and drain plug are in the car and it doesnt say wher in the manual. can anyone pinpoint its whereabouts ?

On my V6 it's in the front drivers side. On a 4Cyl should be somewhere maybe mid point on the front or rear of the tranny. Might have a white sticker on it saying to read the book before you do it. Mine did. I think it took a 19mm to get it off. Just look at the tranny, it should sorta stand out some. It's not gonna be a regular looking bolt......but then......

I wanna change out the differential fluid on my '99 Solara V6. Book shows a drain plug and filler plug. Says it takes about 2qts. On mine though, it has a drain plug, but where the filler plug is, it is blanked off like they never tapped a hole in the casting for a plug. One buddy said it's part of the tranny fluid now. Then why is there a separate drain plug?? Go figure.
