gas economy

Hello, I have a 2000 S-10 ZR2, 4.3 Vortec Sequential FI, still central thou throu upper intake manifold, and was wondering what all I could do to improve my fuel economy. I gave up looking and ready to start asking questions about what could be done. I currently get about 14-15 MPG and engine runs pretty decent. I have also heard about the TB spacer's and upper intake spacer's, do they work or is it just for TBI engines?

Re: gas economy

No.

What gas mileage did it get new?
Are you checking city or hwy driving?
How many miles on it?
For good mileage start with Good driving habits and a good AC Delco parts tune up.

Re: gas economy

regular oil changes, air filter changes, and tune ups (plugs, fuel filter, etc), proper tire air pressure and rotations, make the most difference.

i have a 5 speed 4.3 blazer, and doing all of this and driving/shifting consciously, i get 20-24 mpg's (city and hwy, with the a/c running). i have 145k miles on mine and the only "major" work i've done was the lower intake manifold gasket (and cleaning of all of the parts). good maintenance can keep these trucks running well for a long time.

1. bought truck used bout 1 month ago
2. he did the mpg based on both
3. 116k miles

my economy is based on after i have changed 3 oxygen sensors, new plugs, synthetic oil in engine, and sythetic in front and rear differentials, yes its also a 4x4, with 373 gears on a automatic transmission
