97 LeSabre Oil Pressure Gauge and Hesitation when Hot
Alright after my recent fix with the AC blower I have another couple issues to look into. Long story short I had a stalling issue awhile back and it turned out being the crankshaft position sensor.
Issue #1 A few months after that was switched out I noticed that the vehicle would start to hesitate after it had warmed up and was going either up a hill or was cruising at a slight incline. When I notice the hesitation I proceed to give it a little more gas to bring up the RPM's and the hesitation stops. Recently it seems to be a little more obvious than before so I feel it is getting worse. Its been like this for sometime now and seems to run ok as long as there is no incline or holding the gas down a bit. So thats the first issue. Issue #2 is with my Oil Pressure Gauge. When running especially for over 30-40 minutes straight or after a long road trip I notice that when the vehicle is in Idle the oil pressure drops really far down and hovers around "0" with the little red light on. If I give gas it raises to an acceptable level as well as if I put the vehicle into park it seems to raise out of the red area. Is my oil pump going out? A relay or sensor or some sort? Im not sure that these two issues are a product of each other but for diagnosis sake I figured I would throw them out there. I really love this car and owning it saves me a ton of cash and would like to keep it around a few more years. I have 133K on it currently. Once again thanks in advance for any help! |

Re: 97 LeSabre Oil Pressure Gauge and Hesitation when Hot
My 97 would dip to the red on the oil pressure gauge. Someone on this board suggested changing the oil filter and said do not use Fram. I swapped out the filter, which had not been changed for some time (it was Fram) and the oil pressure came up. I suppose you could run somewhat thicker oil to see if that helps. Not sure about the hesitation.

Thanks for the suggestion. Im up for an oil change here in a couple hundred miles and ill try the heavier oil and/or the different filter.
