4.3 water pump..easy installation???
First, i'm not a big Chevy guy, but I got a '91 s-10 Blazer with a leaking water pump for $200, and knowing how bad these things rot out and the light rust thats on it...couldn't pass it up.
Anyway, I've done a water pump on one of these before...and ran into a problem that many others have told me about and I would like to avoid this time: an easy way to install the pump without those stupid little gaskets sliding around too much causing, well, a do-over. Like I said this happened to me last time and I was lucky enough to get them lined up fine the second time. Any good hints or tips or just put them on and pray for the best? I had the old pump out in half a hour so no help needed there....just need a good way to reinstall. Oh, and may I say....this is one of the stupidest designs GM came up with. |

i got bolts the same size as the mounting bolts and cut the heads off of them...thread them in, then put the gasket and pump on, back em out and replace with the real bolts one at a time.
