99 park avenue jerking/bogging fuel cutting out???

So.....yesterday i was leaving work and all of a sudden my car jerked. Well after that it didnt do it for a while then i went home parked the car for about 20 min, then i left again and pulled up to a light felt the idle drop real low and the light turned green so i gave it some gas and when i got to about 3rd gear the car started cutting out like no gas?? Or the transmission sluipping and it has been doing this since, what i have noticed is it dosent do it when im at a steady speed, but when im starting and stopping the car it happens, i appreciate any feedback i can get on this so i can try to fix the problem

thanks

This could be one of many problems, & without a scan & codes, all we can do is speculate. Do you have any pending or history codes?

Even without a check engine light you can get codes...

How would i check for codes? The local autozone says the check engine light has to be on?

Re: 99 park avenue jerking/bogging fuel cutting out???

So this may or may not have anything to do with it but I have a '98 park ave. It started to die, when i was driving in town slow speads especially coming to a stop, but would do fine going 50-75 mph down the road. I had the fuel pump checked to see if it was weak, checked numerous sensors had auto zone hook up the scanner replaced the throttle body position sensor and a few other things trying to pinpoint what it was....I went and had the 2 new tires put on to match the ones I put on about 6 weeks prior. Drove from the tire shop and has not stalled since!!!!!!!!! crazy as it sounds its true

Re: 99 park avenue jerking/bogging fuel cutting out???

We cleaned the mass air sensor. Replaced the throttle body position sensor. check fuel rail for pressure. replaced air filter, and fuel filter. put car on scanner and unplugged battery to clear codes..2 or 3 time...It really seemed like a fuel or idle problem! I do remember the dummy light about the check tire pressure came on and as many times as we did it stay on after we put the tires on the back. By putting the new tires on the front it made it run like a charm and light on dash reads tire pressure normal. During looking for the problem, I was told a guy had a newer car that tells you the oil life and when the oil change was due...the car did not start until it was resolved. I guess I've decided my cars issue had to be due to the error code with the tires, because it was instantly fixed. Darn computer brains and safety features I suppose. Definately run the scanner on it because, the tbp sensor is about 40 bucks and the scan if free...I'm sure it didnt hurt to do all the new parts on the car but didnt fix the real issue! Hope that helps. Also the guys at auto zone were willing to look up the codes for us.

Re: 99 park avenue jerking/bogging fuel cutting out???

SO.... so far i have replaced the spark plug wires, fuel filter and ran seafoam through the tank....and still acts the same, i sprayed some throttlebody cleaner in the throttle body this morning and drove it around and it seemed to stop doing it? then i went home and left 20 minutes later it started as soon as i left my driveway?? the next step is going to be cleaning the mass air flow sensor i guess, what confuses me is that everyone is telling me to take it to autozone so they can scan it so i did this morning while i was driving around and sure enough nothing, because ive been told you can only get a code when the check engine light was on but i had them try it any way and nothing,so im stuck i really appricate everyones feedback in giving me some advice or similar situations and things you did, thanks any other suggestions please let me know

Disconnect the MAF and see how it performs. It may have a high idle, but should run fine otherwise.
