This is a stupid question but...
edit:: which year mustang would it be cheapest to put a ford 3.8 V6 engine into?
can you take an engine out a one model car and put it in a different one? More specifically, I have a 94 tbird that I hate with a passion but the engine was just rebuilt before I got it, the guy did a good job its top notch. What I really want to do is take the engine out (3.8L V6) and put it in a.... well, in a cooler car. Like a mustang of trans am... basically im asking what my options are as far as what car I can put it in, all engines cant be the same soo... Thanks in advance, and PS Im a chick and know next to nothing about cars so laymens terms please.

Re: This is a stupid question but...
You should have a better luck posting the same or similar question to the Mustang specific forum

Re: This is a stupid question but...
Why would you want to put a V6 from some other car into a car made to have a big V8? Why not just save a couple grand and buy a V8 muscle car?

Re: This is a stupid question but...
Come to think of it.... I was wrong, you should/could ask it here but I would not try to put a square peg in a round hole. Like Shpeker said don't try underpowered engine in the overweight car. If having just recently rebuilt engine burns a hole in your pocket, just try selling it out-rite, someone I am sure can appreciate especially if they hear it run in your car.
If you want something really cool only IMO, why don't you try something like an electric car conversion like Saturn to run on batteries only? Or consider installing a V6 into a smaller car like Escort or something. Just don't get hung up on the engine you have now it's gona limit you too much.
