why'd you sacrifice POWER for handling of the car.
you know how much you'd throw the balance off by putting the 5/7MGTE (or even a 2JZ) in there? if you want to drag, get something else. the 86 was NEVER meant to be ran in a striaght line |

Ouch! Actually, there are various ways to offset that.
<crazy hotrodder cracks knuckles> Get a fiberglass hood(and paint it, damn it!), and move the battery to the trunk/cargo area. Bada bing...

look into how much a 4AG weighs and how much a 2JZ weighs
then add up the 4AG weight + the weight of the original hood + weight of battery and see if it comes anywhere CLOSE to the weight of the 2jz + FRP / CF hood if it doens't, you'r in trouble still. ![]() oh. did i mention the fact that you can't use the T50 tranny, but the W5x tranny with a custom bellhousing? factor that in as well. |

Good point. You seem to know your Corollas... my question, is there any reason why you couldn't swap a later MR2 3S-GTE into a 92 Corolla Alltrac wagon? Talk about a sleeper

u can actually drop in ca18det, sr20det and even the 20B rotary engines in the 86, but that requires alot of time and money.

3sge/te is the best high hp engine to be installed in a corolla with a custom bellhousing and w55 tranny. The Altezza 3sge produces 210hp and that's more hp thatn the 7mge and just a little bit lesser than the 2jzge.
Having the 3sge in your car will not upset the weight sitribution too much, it's just going to be agout 50 lbs or so that can be compensated by having the suspension dialed in correctly with adjustable coil overs to ad more weight to the rear. An 8th of an inch height adjustment can transfer weight up to 50 in each corner of you car. You have to also play aroud with it, and test and tune the suspension after the installating the motor and see if your puhing or oversteering before making any dramtic adjustments. Your driving style counts. :sun:

f'it just plunk $17K down and buy a used Formula Atlantic Engine. Then readjust the Coil-overs to get the CG back to 50/50....
